Clyde W. Ford, was among twenty-four Northwest authors honored Saturday night, March 10, at the “Literary Lions Gala,” an annual benefit for the King County Library System.
With tables starting at $2500, and plates at $125, the benefit, held at the architecturally stunning Bellevue Regional Library, brought out individual and corporate sponsors of the arts in the Puget Sound area like The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Starbucks Coffee, Davis, Wright & Tremaine, and Puget Sound Energy.
Ford’s east coast and west coast mysteries were on sale. “Red Herring,” and “Precious Cargo,” his Charlie Noble nautical mysteries, set in the Pacific Northwest, were clearly favorites among several hundred donors purchasing books. Sales of these mysteries topped all books for the evening. Ford spoke to those attending about re-invigorating “nautical fiction,” a literary genre dormant for many years, and about the importance of place in his writing.
